Biography
M A D J A C K
Fandragon for the Factory boss of Donkey Kong 64
Sometimes, a creator's love has unintended eventualities. Such is the case of a particular jack-in-the-box, the very first project of a fledgling engineer: so much care and attention to detail was poured into his construction that he came to care for his maker in turn, and manifested a soul. Jack, as he chose to style himself, swore to always serve as a companion and protector to his beloved engineer. He performed that role to the utmost...until, one day, Frantic vanished.
Jack did his best to oversee Frantic's factory in his absence, but he himself did not possess much technical knowledge. In his heart he always held out hope his creator would return, but nevertheless, as months turned to years, in a slow downward slide he succumbed to the pressure of trying to run things alone. He became prone to fits of grief-driven mania, often laughing from no discernible cause, and behind his back the other automatons began to whisper he'd gone mad. Despite Jack's genuine best efforts the factory fell into disrepair, and shutdown claimed all of Frantic's creations one by one, including Jack himself.
After an indeterminate number of years, the dragon Needlebones came upon Frantic's body locked away in a trunk. He managed to get the engineer powered on again, and although his memory had been all but wiped Frantic was seized as soon as he woke by a pull deep in his soul. This pull eventually led him back to the ruins of the factory, where--in spite of not remembering it was his--he started work on restoring the structure and all within. Bits and pieces of his former life came back to him in the process, and once he found him he poured all the same devotion as before--perhaps even more--into waking up his beloved Jack.
