- former treasure hunter and marauder
- Vesper got into a fight with him a few years back
- Vesper saw something in him that Valen certainly didn't see and chose not to kill or capture him, but instead enlisted him for the clan even though Valen tried adamantly to refuse, Vesper knew he was capable of so much more than theft and crime
- the clan leader deemed him a worthy successor and adopted him, much to Valen's disgust
- after many years of work, Vesper has nearly redeemed the young wildclaw's thieving, conniving, angry personality (he's still a sarcastic punk, but with Alastor's guidance, he's doing better)
- one day he'll take over the clan... when the war with the Acolytes is over
