Narrative
For the average dragon, time moves in a straight line. Each event leads into the next which leads into the next, and so on. Most don't question it too much, accepting this is the way their life is.
Time doesn't move the same way in Redleaf Forest. Anything that came into the forest would all exist in the same time, frozen on a warm autumn day. Originally, dragons would visit, take the time they needed in the forest's warm, welcoming embrace, and leave. They weren't leaving anymore. Eirene turns in her sleep, a deep, seeping, inky nightmare worming its way into every inch of her mind. A normally comfortable, undisturbed sleep in the center of her lake felt trapping. She struggles to wake up, but something pulls her back under, murmuring incomprehensible but calming words. She tries again, and again, and each time she gets a little closer to consciousness as the inky blackness tries to pull her under. Her head is pounding. This shouldn't be happening to her. This is supposed to be HER place. She didn't think she was a dragon who could hate others, but whoever is currently in her forest isn't welcome anymore. The will of the forest would begin to reflect that, pulling dragons out by any means possible. There's only one means possible when everyone's trapped within the forest, though. --- Eirene coughs up inky black syrup from her mouth, suddenly on shore, water drenched through every inch of her fur and clothing. She wasn't drowning- she can't- but the first thing the strange black dragon looming above her asks is, "are you okay?" "I think so," she answers in a distant voice. "What's going on?" |
