Biography

"He's the first friend I'd ever made, back when I was still on the streets. We were just kids back then. A grown man stole everything he had to his name, and after what I'd been through by that point, I took my dagger and hunted the thief down. Ratbud didn't expect anyone to return his ivories to him, let alone by a scrawny urchin that looked like a ghost. I'd told him to keep a tighter grip on his things, said that not everyone in the world would go out of their way to grant him justice.

I thought I wouldn't see him again, but lo and behold, he found me later and offered to split his food with me, bought with the same ivories I returned to him. I'm glad he was insistent on befriending me despite how sour a brat I was, because he really ended up being the reason I kept any semblance of humanity about me. He reminded me that even if the world was rotten, I shouldn't let myself rot too.

When I met him years later, our lives going in different directions, he was still happy to see me. Knowing what I am now, he was still happy to see I was surviving, healthy and even thriving. I noticed he was too, and that point really was driven in when he hugged me so hard that I thought my back would break. It didn't of course, but I had no idea my spine could pop in some of the places it did." - Sindri
