______ The two uneven spheres tumbled across the sand, their momentum only stopping when they collided with the paws of the male Quillrunner. He glanced up at his female equivalent, his lips curling in a snarl. Three pups scrambled out from behind the male, two of them running to their mother and one staying by their father's paws to sniff at the strange, unfamiliar items.

______ "Why would you bring these here, near our pups?" the male hissed. His gaze returned to the spheres, watching as the dragonets underneath caused the shells' hues to shift as they moved. When the female cocked her head at him, puzzled, he elaborated swiftly. "These are Nocturne eggs! They seem close to hatching, too."
______ The female's eyes widened, startled at the new information, but was interrupted before she could speak. The male turned and took a few steps away from the cub still jumping around at his feet. He tore his claws through the sand in a couple spots until hitting jackpot, pulling the azure bag from its hiding place. The leather was flecked with the patterns of a wild cat, which looked a bit unflattering if you asked the Quillrunners. They had stolen the fairly large backpack from a dragonet, though, so they didn't have much of a choice.
