JOB

RavenFeather was a mastered sage of magic, particularly magic origination from the Dark Flight. It didn't raise any red flags to anyone when he returned to the clearing, however. He now serves as the Head of Magic in ___, and probably will be for a long time.

ORIGIN

Surprisingly, he was actually born to the Wind Flight, where he was eventually stolen by the Dark Flight in an elaborate ploy to eventually be returned.
RavenFeather was raised in the Dark Flight, deep within its bounds. It was there that he learned the ways of their magic, and their goal. He was the most enthusiastic of all the hatchlings being trained for war. His powers only grew as he became older, surpassing all others. Now, it was time for his first, and possibly last, long-term assignment. He was to bring down the Light Flight as Dragonkind knew it. But, their leaders knew that they couldn't just send him to the Light Flights borders, it was much, much too obvious. And so they sent him to the Wind Flight, where he inconspicuously joined.
He stayed within the Wind Flight for a long time, taken under the wing of the lair he was stolen from, where he continued to scheme his plans. Regularly, his Death Seeker would return with notes, letters, and minor assignments from his Flight.
Steadily he built their trust to him back, and now he's ready to begin his plan.

STORYLINE

"RavenFeather, as leader of ____, I make you Head of Magic. And with this newfound rank, I grant you an apprentice. I do hope you pass your knowledge to NightStar." Obsidian said. She clipped the gold spiral medallion to his cloak, replacing the worn silver one. Mangrove, her mate, standing beside her looked at RavenFeathers birdskull. Was he really expecting him to take it off?

Its been more than fifteen years, my old friend. I won't do it now. He shot a quick glare at Mangrove while Obsidian was distracted. Their rivalry was still there, and RavenFeather knew of this. He adjusted his black cloak to fit the new gold medallion that now sat on the front, showing his skills in the art of conjuring and sorcery.

Mangrove made a scowling face at him, before turning away and putting a fake proud one on. "NightStar, step forward." The copper-splattered dragon stepped out of the crowd. He knew NightStar could hear the murmurs of the crowd, feeling their anticipation rising.

"I now make you apprentice of RavenFeather. RavenFeather, I now make you mentor of NightStar." She nodded to the young Skydancer. She glanced around the clearing nervously, before looking up at her new mentor.

For the first time in his life he couldn't tell what another dragon was thinking. He'd always had a mysterious way of knowing what one thought, without actually being able to read their mind. It unnerved him to say the least. What was it with this Skydancer that threw him off?

His expression was mostly hidden by the bird skull he wore, his apprentice likely wouldn't notice. He examined the young mage closely, attempting to conjure what he was thinking, but to no prevail. Deep in the crowd he could see Lazulite and Allium, looking at him. They knew what was under his mask, just forced down deep into their heads where they couldn't find it. It wasn't like he helped them do it.

"I.. Hello- Uhm...." NightStar stammered, giving a respectful dip of her head. She was nervous, and that's all RavenFeather could tell. Anyone could tell that she was nervous, even a tiny hatchling. His scowl was hidden as he still tried to figure it out.

"We'll be starting tomorrow morning. Sunrise. Don't be late." The Death Seeker perched behind him made a crow, it looked like any old raven with the cover over its large green eye. They'd kill Crescendo in an instant if they found out.

NightStar nodded nervously, while RavenFeather looked out into the crowd for Quicksilver, his mate, and their three kids. Glimmer and Monochrome seemed to not be paying attention, but Frost and his mother watched him gleefully.

Once the crowds clapping had died down, Obsidian nodded her head and the celebration began. He never really liked celebrations, especially for pointless things such as this. But he couldn't deny, the Roasted Beetle was pretty good. He walked up to one of the tables and snatched a beetle, plopping it in his mouth.

"RavenFeather, oh congratulations!" His mates voice almost made him flinch. Quicksilver smiled and looked at him happily.

"Where are the hatchings?" He asked. She never strayed far from the three and this made him a bit concerned.

"Oh, they're playing with their friends right now." She gestured to a corner of the clearing where Glimmer and Monochrome were playfighting with the other hatchlings, while Frost sat to the side, watching. Doesn't have his mothers warrior spirit. He grumbled in his head. Quicksilver hadn't had much time with him recently since she'd been out for training. New battle techniques had been discovered and they didn't want the warriors to miss it.

"Raven, doesn't it feel like to have a day about you?" She said, leaning against the table. "Look how happy they are for you!" Quicksilver looked at the other dragons. He spotted Mangrove in the crowd looking still uneasy, and his parents approaching.
"I suppose.." RavenFeather lied. He wanted to get his parents conversation over with quickly. Picking himself up he walked towards his parents.

"RavenFeather, oh I'm so proud of you!" His mother hugged him, her dusty talons leaving an imprint on his cloak. He brushed the dust off a bit irritated. "How does it feel to have such a high rank? You can directly talk to Obsidian now!" She spoke with a lot of excitement and enthusiasm.

"...Very exhilarated." He said blankly. He was already related to Obsidian, of course he could talk to his grandmother. He didn't know what she meant. Soon enough his parents were distracted, and he made his escape to the willows.

The sun was already setting, casting thin beams of purple light through the thick bamboo stalks. Now that he was head of magic, he had to sleep here instead of his usual tarped area. He'd be waiting for Nightstar when she came.

RavenFeather awoke to Crescendo pecking his birdskull, as he always did. It was almost like the bird had its own internal clock to tell when he had to wake. He made a small grumble, sitting up and tucking his front talons underneath him. It was still dark, but the sun would soon rise.

By the time he heard talonsteps approaching, the sun was barely hidden by the horizon. Of course she's late... His mind growled at the apprentice.
