Biography
Arcel
Arcel was not always corrupted.
Once, the only thing special about him was that he had grown up without a swarm. He did not actually grow up, dying before he had fully grown so far from his home, frozen in a block of ice. And that should have been it. It should have been a simple but tragic story. But it wasn't so. Arcel's body was found by a sculptor. A sculptor of guardian statues, with souls trapped inside. This wasn't true, but something would be trapped inside these sculptures. The bodies of those whose souls were supposed to be trapped in the statue.
A small statue would be perfect, something simple to place on a table in the shape of a Veilspun. The only problem was ... inside would be a real Veilspun. The stench would never be attributed to the source, this innocent statue. And so the statue containing Arcel was sold to a clan that dabbled in life magic.
Arcel was placed into a room soaked with magic, to watch over the hatchlings in the clan's nesting grounds. Slowly, the magic began to affect him. His body didn't rot, and slowly, the magic crept to his heart, rousing him.
Arcel opened his eyes in a dark chamber with no air. He could not breathe, and he would die again if he did not get air. He frantically scratched at the wood trapping him in, but he was weak and could not break it. The violently shaking statue attracted a large Ridgeback hatchling, who crept up on the wood statue and swiped it off the table on which it stood. The statue crashed down on the ground, breaking into pieces as a stunned Arcel lay there.
The clan took care of him with good intentions. But there were a few alchemists, curious as to the case of Arcel. And so, once when he was sleeping, they fed him a deadly potion. He did not, however, die. Instead, a crackling blue film spread over his body, stiffening into an armor. Healers could not stop the spread. Not until a weaver of magic stopped by the clan. Before Arcel turned into a statue completely, the weaver stopped his heart, turning him into an undead dragon as if frozen in an ice cube.
And the armor stopped growing, though now the pale blue armor covered some of his body and made it harder for him to move, weighing him down. Arcel, though, wonders if he will ever be free from the curse ...
