Hello! I'm Ducky, this is Pintail, and we're here to offer Cross Stitch Pet Portraits of your cats!

We have four patterns available, and all can be customized to your own cat's coloring. And as a celebration for finally opening up, we're offering EXTRA DISCOUNTS! The first five slots that get claimed will have a 10% discount on the entire order.


Step One: Do you have your cat? Good, I need reference images. I can do anything from your beloved pet to neon fursonas, but I need something to base the design on.

Step Two: Spice it up! Do you want beads and sparkles? Metallic accents? Glow in the dark eyes? Little hearts embroidered around your precious feline friend? See the add-ons below. I can also do borders and names! If you want an add-on you don't see, ask. I might be able to offer it, I might be able to find it, or it might not be listed because it is beyond my abilities right now.

Step Three: Pick your canvas. Cross stitch is most often done on "aida cloth", which is a canvas that is woven for perfect spacing. Three aida cloth colors are included in the base price- bright white, off white, and black. I also offer seasonal and temporary colors for an additional cost, and they will be in the canvas section if available.

Step Four: Check the discounts. I may be running certain promotions. If you want to use one, make sure to include it in your order form.

These are physical items, not digital, so a valid address is necessary. I ship through USPS, so PO Boxes are also okay.

Order Form: You may order in this thread or, if you want to keep it private, submit your order through PMs. Please fill out this form, but don't worry about including reference images if you aren't ready or don't want to share publicly- I'll only need them when it's your turn in the queue.
If you're unsure about something, feel free to leave it blank. The purpose of the form is to give me a head's up on what you're interested in, and to reserve your place in the queue.
I do not have a limit on how many separate canvases you can order in one slot. If you are ordering more than two while I have other orders, I may wiggle you around in the queue.

I have a basic understanding of what you want from the order, and you have a slot reserved.
Planning and design
We'll discuss what you want, and I'll start making a mockup of the design. This is when I'll need reference images. You can still make requests for changes.
Approval
Once you approve the design, I'll require a 25% non-refundable deposit and a confirmed shipping address to begin stitching.
Stitching time!
My photo update schedule is generally
--When I have finished the cat's face
--When I have finished the cat's entire body
--When I am working on other elements of interest
--When it is finished, and I'm ready to pack it for shipping
If there are any delays, clients with open orders will be the first to know.
The rest of the payment will be expected within two weeks of the beginning of stitching, unless otherwise discussed. An average pattern will be finished between one to four weeks.

Discussion can be through PMs on FR, or on Discord. It WILL NOT be in this thread, due to privacy concerns. Your order will have a google sheet assigned to it, until it is finished, and it will contain

-Any photo updates I have given
-Any applicable discounts
-How much money has been paid
-Estimated completion time
-Shipping date and tracking number

The bulk of the item's payment is going to be through USD. I would consider G, T, and FR items for partial payment...and if someone wants to offer me a Light Sprite to do art of their cats, I'll never turn them down. ;) Please ask about non-USD payment in regards to your order during the planning phase.
However, if you are happy with your order, tips in G/T/items are more than welcome! I also would love art trades for tips. Or, again, a Light Sprite is always good.

My timeline is not first-come-first-serve, but I will take on commissions in "batches". An entire batch of five will (generally) be finished before I move on. This is to give me flexibility. It gives me the ability to jump in between commissions if I'm waiting for a reply from someone, or waiting for supplies to come in.

Shipping: I don't include the cost of shipping in the prices below, and will always calculate it for you. But it's easy for me to check the price to any zip code!

I will be using USPS, so any of their shipping options are open to me. If you want to pay for express shipping, I'm okay to do that! My default is the cheapest option they have. (Hell, if you don't want it to be sent through USPS, I can probably make it work.)

I do use recycled packaging for shipping as much as possible. A photo of your package will be provided when it is shipped, so you know what to look for.

Shipping multiple canvases together is a savings for both of us, so I'm willing to hold an order for up to three months if you think you'll be ordering again. Items I am holding must be fully paid for.

Because I aim to reuse packaging, it will be sturdy but not necessarily pretty. If you would like a beautiful packaging display, such as for a gift, I can absolutely make this happen. I can give you ideas and a quote, along with ways we can reduce the cost- for example, I can flat pack everything, and you assemble the packaging yourself.

Scrap sale ($25 flat, plus shipping. Limited options, to use up scraps and odd items. Most add-ons are fine, for the usual fee.)
Artsy Cats ($60) (An art piece. Can be customized, but not to the degree I usually will.)

Artsy Cats: Sometimes I want to make a fun lil pattern for myself. If you like them, I'll make one for you! They can be customized to a limited degree, such as adding a name.

Surprise!:
Do you like RNG?? Do you like living on the edge?? Feel free to give me your reference image(s), your price range, your likes and dislikes, and I can make something with minimal input! You will still get updates on progress, but the finished project will be a surprise.

Okay, so we have our cat. Let's add some sizzle!

Prices for options may be a range. Because these are so customizable, I will give a solid quote during the planning process.
I am also willing to work within a budget! If you have a limit on what you can spend, we can take that number and work backwards.
Motifs, borders, and names can be moved all around the canvas, and can be designed to sit around the cat, in front of the cat, or as background elements.

Seed beads
Seed beads are small glass beads, that I can use to accent the artwork. They have many color options!
Suggested use: The center of flowers in a border. Details on their collar. A sprinkling to add sparkle to the background.

Specialty floss
My four floss upgrades are Tie-Dye, Glitter, Metallic, and Glow-in-the-Dark Flosses.
Suggested use: Shiny fur accents. Vibrant eyes. Glowy eyes. Synthetic limbs. Borders.

Borders and names
Larger elements in the design that do not (generally) intersect with the cat. There is a wide range in price based on complexity and size.

Motifs
Smaller elements in the design that do not (generally) intersect with the cat. There is a wide range in price based on complexity and size. A large amount of motifs will become a Background, see below.

Apparel and edits
Apparel items are elements in the design that intersect with the cat. Edits are altercations I make to the base cat design. There is a range based on complexity.
I am open to designing anything. Some stuff is beyond my skill right now, but I won't know until I try. I'll offer to design easier items for free, but more complex things will need a bribe.

Backgrounds and layered subjects
Backgrounds are very large pieces of embroidery that visually sit behind the subject. I can also layer two (or more!) cats in the same canvas. Because of the notable increase in work, these will need extra time to complete.
A stitched background is not necessary for most designs. Cross stitch often has the canvas showing through!

Backing
All canvases will have fray stop applied. This is to protect the edges of the canvas, and to stabilize the embroidery. If the canvas is going into a picture frame, this is enough! Fray stop is the slimmest option.
If you want to protect the canvas further, or want to display it without a frame, you can add on a fabric backing to the commission. This hides and protects the back of my stitching. I may be able to customize the fabric to your design, but I do not promise this.
I do not include a frame with your order.

Although it's a physical item, and very customizable, I am ultimately viewing this store as an adoptables shop. If you would like me to make something for you that isn't an option on this list, please reach out. The worst that happens is I say no (and that doesn't mean no forever!)

Extra notes n' boring stuff

I can adapt the pattern to match a real animal, a fictional character, a fursona, whoever! If you want something like an eye closed or a leg missing, I can probably do it.
I won't do any overt copyright'd designs. But I'm more than happy to match colors within the pattern of my own design. That is, I won't make Espeon, but I can take the essence of an Espeon and put it into the adopt with the fur pattern and colors.
I love funky requests! Do you want a glow in the dark skeleton? I'll totally try! Does your OC have five eyes? Let's go!

These patterns are not for sale. I may release patterns in the future- if you are interested in this, please submit it in the suggestions box. But as it stands, please do not steal my designs.

Because stitching is a physical activity, there is always the risk of an injury slowing me down past my usual art deadline. If this happens, I will tell my clients with active orders ASAP. We will be able to work out some compensation, such as a free upgrade on the order in return for the order taking longer than expected, or a discount for a future order. Active orders will ALWAYS be finished. In a similar vein, if I have to adjust my schedule permanently, I will let people know.

If you have a request, always feel free to throw it in the Suggestions Form. I want to know what you guys are interested in! If it turns out I have fifty people in Canada who want cat portraits, I'll only know by you guys telling me. :)
