like father, like son??

a prim, scholarly traveling prince of a light clan, except he's not actually a prince, and he's really terrible at light magic. He is great at being so condescending to other people that they don't bother doubting whether he's nobility or not, though. "Traveling" means "I told my parents I was going to a boarding school that doesn't actually exist and they started catching on so I'm pretending to take a gap year to 'see the world' while I desperately look for someone to teach me actual light magic." His parents expect him to take charge of the family once he's done with his academics, as most of his many siblings have left their birth clan.

Very prideful and hates admitting when he's failed or when he needs help. He travels with his guard, [will be named whenever I get them], and they've been friends since they were young.

Significantly more interested in other types of magic and academics- specifically biology- than the traditional light academics pursued by his family. He's a little too ashamed to pursue it, though.
