Amene (Ah-meh-nay) is beautiful, isn’t she? Even when perfectly still, she can easily hypnotize other dragons. But while this ability of hers is certainly useful, Amene is interested in something else—specifically the Shade. Unlike Tealera, Amene remembers her childhood. Particularly, she remembers being a terrified hatchling, attacked by creatures infected by the Shade until a shadow loomed over them and the monsters were suddenly vanquished. She woke up in the clan’s home with nothing but a blur of memories. She had no recollection of her savior, but even if she desperately wanted to know who they were, she had no intentions on telling anyone; they’d surely think she was crazy. So, instead, she focuses her energy on her hatred for the Shade. It’s all she can do.

Amene thought she’d love no one—that her aggression toward the Shade would scare off any potential mates—until she met Kestrel. Kestrel was calm around her, and while he didn’t often express his emotions as strongly as she did, he understood her. Amene sees Kestrel as her equal, her other half. He’s helped her with her anger and recovery, and he’s always there if she needs someone to talk to.
