He slinks in the shadows - soft as a murmur, light as a breeze, blending, melting, merging... fading.

Ruedha and Shade follow him with their eyes.
"Rue, he's..."
"Yes, child. He is."
"But how is it possible, to be here and there at the same time?"
Ruedha tilts her head; little birdskulls clink softly, swinging in the air.
"Sometimes they just want to stay too much."

No one else sees Ayden going through the lair, stopping at random places, touching the walls, picking up the pebbles laying on the floor and carefully placing them back after thorough examination - and not because of his faded colors barely seen in the dim light filling the lair, for his eyes shine as bright as glittering gems found in Crystal Pools.

He rests in the nests, curling around the eggs, caressing the hard ragged shells so gently, so longingly, especially when there are four eggs - he doesn't leave the nest then up until it hatches; watches the hunters and scavengers coming back to the lair with trophies; sees the coliseum battlers off each time they leave. Ruedha meets his eyes every time but never speaks to him as she's not the one he wants to, needs to, longs to hear him.

Yet no one else ever does.
