The intertwined beasts of the south, Sleipnir and Vargr, have always been at odds. Their differences have always been too great, despite their shared curse binding them together; every meeting has been a careful dance of resentment and curiosity. Their children together were a great experiment between the two, and their children have always suffered from it. This nest is no different; the clutch came to life underneath the June full moon, the hatchlings bumbling over each other in their race to be the first to escape their nest which had, inadvertently, become something of a cage for them. Vargr, ever-dutiful yet too proud, scorned the hatchlings as mere beasts like him and his mate, and left them to their own devices. Sleipnir, ever-wandering yet too curious, ignored the hatchlings entirely in favor of playing underneath the light of the full moon. As they left the nest, the hatchlings were guided by nothing but the stars. The Mirror-Bound, Capricorn. Capricorn, second-hatched and sharpest-toothed of his nestmates, was guided by the stars above to a river close to where he'd been hatched. The bumbling newly-hatched looked into the water at his reflection, simple curiosity clouding his better instincts, and he reached out to touch it. Capricorn fell into the river, and no amount of searching ever found him. He awoke in a mirror, viewing another hatchling taking their first steps while their parents watched and cheered meaningless noises, rendered speechless with joy. Capricorn pressed against the barrier between him and the scene, but the window into the world would not budge, and there was nobody around to hear the child sob and cry out for help. There was nothing to be done; Capricorn was trapped. His inconsolable grief and confusion turned to rage as he grew, his body stretching beyond what any Imperial should look like, and soon he became a haunting image of what was once a curious child. He claws at the barrier, starving for an opportunity to enact petty vengeance against the dragons who ignored his plight.
