In a dead, abandoned place, an eternal dance took place. On wooden, rotting stage, two dragons dance; their forms flicker, held together by curse and fate. Though the fox smiles wickedly, his wrists are jerked back and forth by the porcelain doll. Though the porcelain doll leads the dance, her ankles are chained to the stage. The seats are empty, no audience in sight. There is no applause when the dancers break free of each other, only muted screaming as both collapse and crawl back to each other. They're both revolted by the need for each other's touch, but neither can truly face the consequences of leaving. In this twisted theater, a nest lies forgotten amongst the molded velvet seating of the auditorium. It has never been tended, perhaps it's been forgotten entirely; yet despite that, the eggs crack, and then hatch. Sewing, stitching, patching, hemming. Hero's hands are calloused and their movements precise as they create new outfits; suits, dresses, blouses, slacks, skirts, hats, shoes. The work is never-ending and monotonous, yet there is nothing else to do. The vain and rich visit them sometimes, reveling in the quality of the clothes that Hero discards on the ground around them as new inspiration takes hold. She is uncertain if this place is a dream, or not. She is uncertain if this place is her dream, or not. Hero has never tried to ask questions, and she has never tried to escape.
