Tanzanite had always impressed the other hatchlings with his magic tricks. His grandfather had taught him a few before he passed away, and now he could make smokescreens, loud bangs, and produce flowers out of thin air. Of course, these were all party tricks. But that didn't stop him from trying to use his 'powers' for his own personal gain. Many times he had tried to enter various guilds, in order to become on of those theives he heard made so much treasure. Unfortunately, he got kicked out quick. Turns out that, even though he was a small spiral, his ability to act his size... was quite lacking. |

The job
Tanzanite's blue eyes flashed in the light of the small lantern he was clutching tightly. He could see the gold lining the walls, the treasure piled up on the floor, the chests locked tight shut. But none of that was his goal. It had always been easy to sneak into places like this, as he was unusually flexible, even for a spiral. The problem was getting out again. Making his way further into the treasure trove, he saw it. The gemstone, lying on a velvet cushion, shining bright even in the dim light. With one last quick glance around, he shot forward and wrapped his nimble body around the precious gem. With his wings beating fast, he struggled until he was able to lift his weight off the ground. But after a few meters, it slipped out of his grasp and fell to the ground with a smash. Open mouthed, Tanzanite stared at the shards that now littered the floor. But he didn't have much time to be surprised. Shooting off and out the way he came, he resigned himself to the fact that, really, he wasn't that good of a thief. |
