Yau is a dragon of the water flight, despite what it might say under her picture. It must be an error of her inferiors. Her name was thought of when a good friend of mine (SairentoTsuki) did a mispelling of 'yay', which ended up being 'yau' - and it stuck.

She was born into an extremely wealthy family, without any exaggeration - if they wanted to, they could've purchased an entire nation. As such, they were also of extremely high status, so they needed to present themselves as more than royalty - which is what young Yau was mainly taught. Every single thing she did was nitpicked. Every hobby, anything she took an interest to...it was all monitored to ensure that her family's reputation would not be damaged. Because of this, she grew extremely insecure, but knowing she could not show weakness in front of anyone, she would hold herself up haughtily. She also developed an obsession over what she would wear. She thought she could keep her façade up forever...until something disastrous happened. Unable to cope with the high expectations that were set for her, she ended up trying to disguise herself and attending a party, which she found to be extremely refreshing and a new pace to life compared to the one she had been living. Unfortunately, her disguise slipped off when she didn't realise it, and photos were taken of her - tarnishing her reputation, therefore tarnishing the family's reputation. She was disowned soon after, and would've been left with nothing if it weren't for her recently passed grandfather's will, which left her a large mansion and a large sum of money. With nowhere else to go, she began residing in that lonely estate.

Vapoure: Her girlfriend. They met while Yau was travelling to her new home, when Yau was travelling through a poorer part of a city. She was quite lost, and Vapoure, with her friendliness, offered to aid her in her journey. Yau initially declined, having a negative opinion of her, but relented after Vapoure persisted. It turned out that she was quite amusing to listen and talk to, and once Yau realised that Vapoure was not going to judge her based on her actions or what she wanted to wear, she allowed her defences to go down, making her first friend.
Once they reached the mansion, Vapoure began the journey home, but Yau insisted that she stay with her, saying it would be lonely by herself in such a large place, and that she would be afraid at night. The teal imperial was intimidated at first, but they eventually found themselves staying with each other, visiting different places with each other, and then finally, sharing a romantic affection for each other.
