The light was so bright.

Everytime young Darksight tried to open all of his eyes, his mind would be flooded with all sorts of images. Some were the searing bright landscape while others...were not. He saw a golden tail in one, a burning blaze in another, and a quiet cave in one that was increasingly becoming more and more prominent the more he looked at it.

"Darksight..."

A silky voice pierced his trance and he shut all of his eyes and welcomed the darkness to soothe the throbbing in his head. Much better...

"Darksight?" his mother called again and he opened the eyes on his face to look into her pale green ones. Her face was crossed with slight concern and her lavender mane swayed gently in the breeze. "What did you see, my son?"

He paused for a moment. "Uh, I saw that floating island...and that crystal...and that mountain..." he pointed to the corresponding objects around them.

Zylenis scoffed. "No, I meant the things in the future." She bared her fangs, only slightly though.

"Oh! Was that what those were? They were hard to see but when I pointed an eye on my tail at her...", he motioned to Koi speaking to Thornbane on a neighboring floating island in the distance, "I saw a golden tail." Darksight pointed at Thornbane next. "All I got from him was a dark cave. It might have been a den once."

He turned towards his mother. "I saw a lot of flames when the eyes on my neck came across you."

She flicked her ears and something dark shone in her eyes for a moment. "Darksight, what you have is a gift...It may take some practice but eventually you'll learn to filter the real world out of your visions when you open all of your eyes. Whenever you look at a dragon with one of your eyes besides your main ones, you will get a glimpse into their future. You cannot see your own nor can you control what you see but it is a powerful ability."

"Really?" his tail was thumping the ground in excitement. "Is it magic just like yours?"

Zylenis chuckled causing her branches to shake and rustle like real tree branches. "Not quite but one day, maybe I'll teach you some magic as my apprentice. How's that?"

"Amazing!" Darksight yipped.

Summary

Darksight is an intelligent, wise, quiet, and mysterious young Veilspun. His voice is deep and smooth, like a lake's water at nighttime. He has many eyes running along his sides, all of which may not be open at once. A few strands of his mane near his head are braided with dark glass beads. Laughter from him is rare as well as a smile. He is not the most optimistic dragon in the clan either. Darksight used to be as chipper as any hatchling but the more his powers as a seer grew, the more he saw, the quieter he became.

When he looks at a dragon through one of his eyes along his side, he can see a vision into that dragon's future (that future may be from several timelines and not necessarily the current one) or a brief memory. The distinction between a memory and a vision is not apparent.

He was his mother's very first favorite. As soon as Zylenis saw he was different from her other hatchlings, all her heart belonged to him. She taught him how to wield his power and raised him like any other mother would. He was, at first, oblivious to the fact his other siblings and his own father were cast aside in favor of Darksight. When he left the nest, he finally confronted his mother about it (albeit less passionately) and her response was a disappointed scowl. She inflicted him with her disappointment intending to bring back that son who adored her but Darksight had enough of his mother after he discovered what happened to Jadeite.

It was Darksight's idea to have Esma learn sorcery under Zylenis. That way, they could "win back" her affection and "earn her trust" in order to spy upon her to learn her intentions. Darksight gets along really well with his twin sister, Esma. After he unconvered the truth about his family, he tried to reconnect with his brothers and sister. Esma rejoiced this but Mervin and Wolfsong were skeptical, the latter even accusing Darksight of winning their mother's heart on purpose to spite them. Darksight attempted to connect with his younger brother Lance, but the red Veilspun didn't want "to taint Mother's special little star". Volari was hopeless; she was just as jealous as her brother.

Darksight has a good relationship with his father, Tarantula. The two are never physically affectionate however Tarantula has implied concern for his gifted son and Darksight consulted his father after Zylenis's decision to get another partner.

Trivia

• He is relatively chill compared to most
• His familiar, Umbra, allows him to dispel dark clouds similar to Shroud to disorient his foes. He has used this ability to ruin Frog and his sibling's Familiar Bonding Ceremony so Jadeite could snatch the crystal wielded by Zylenis
• He cannot see his own future
• Not a fighter due to his many eyes being a major weak point
• Bramble bushes terrify him due to his fear of being poked in the eyes
• He drinks coffee on occasion
