B I O G R A P H Y
Gloaming: Devoted steward of the Viridian Labyrinth.

______ Gloaming's first memory is a series of sensations; roaring in his ears, a racing heart in his chest, and the taste of salt on his tongue. He remembers his body being rocked by an endless cascade of waves that soothed his soul and calmed his confusion. He remembers kelp tangled in his beard and barnacles attempting to make a home along his spine, the snap of his jaws on tasty fish, and the song of gulls. He remembers wanting something he had no name for with such fierceness.

The sea heard his musings and knew the names he did not and granted the wish he did know he made.

Gloaming found himself on the shore, water drying on his hide and leaving lines of salt like the tracks of tears. The kelp dried in his beard, matting and tangling and stinking. The barnacles fled. The gulls' song was harsh and grieving. He was heavy, no longer nimble and swift.

But he felt free all the same.

He stared out over the currents a long, long time. He watched the sun rise and set on the water, stored away the sound of the waves, the tang of salt-laden air. And then, at the next dawn, he flew away.

He flew until there was no taste of salt in the air and no glint of a churning sea on the horizon, following that burning sense of wanting. That compulsion as irresistible as siren song was calling him onward.
