It seemed to be a common thing for the rare populations of Mirrors in the Southern Icefield to take in the company of wolves, bonding to one as familiar to fulfill that desperate need for a pack. But Amaruq's companions had taken it to an extreme, becoming as one of them in identity and spirit. She'd been raised by these creatures, accepted by a family of winter wolves after her birth parents to her assumption must have perished in the blizzards, and the only reason she lives today was because of the grey pelt that now lays permanently donned over her face. It's a deeply personal thing to her, her pack of fellow Mirrors blending in among the beasts as she has... which makes Lupin's quiet disconnect fill her with such immense sorrow and apprehension.

He was the first Mirror she had ever had in her life, a gift from the gods that she has wanted to preserve and protect since the moment she saved him. Though they were not related by blood in any way, Lupin has always been to her as a close brother, a sibling that both exasperated her but would drive her to put her life on the line for if need be... and to know that void in his mind still quietly beckons him fills her with ongoing dread. She worries that one day something in his past will come to light and lure him back, fearing he might even become an entirely different dragon from the one she cares about should he remember who he once was. And perhaps that was why... she'd accepted Skathi with such surprising little protest. At least here, she could wrestle with the struggle now while he was still with her, knowing that if the time came one day where she would have to choose between her happiness or his own, she knew she would let her dearest brother go.
