Honoured First Dragoness

There is a frigid and old story here,
and it is one I am not equipped to tell.

╭━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ l o r e ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╮
blankblank Aleksandra and Paris were the first dragons to join the Frozen-Sea Clan. They did not say where they came from, but the flashing green of their eyes told some of that tale. Mated and deeply trusting each other, they were not at first very forthcoming to the Five Warriors. They saw a handful of cold, unhatched eggs in need of nesting and they saw five lonely dragons without a lair.

It was Aleksandra and Paris who led the Five Warriors to Sheogelra. They'd crossed paths with the Coatl only a few days prior and, while they did not quite like the old dragon, they recognized that she had a warm place to sleep and they did not.

Grateful, the Five Warriors asked Aleksandra and Paris to stay for the night. "Help us with these dragons," Perrath said, "and we will be eternally grateful." He bowed his head in deference, as if yielding to the two older dragons superiority and wisdom. Aleksandra and Paris were not fooled.

Still, they did stay. Not for the Five Warriors who whispered in the night when they thought everyone else had gone to bed, and not for Sheogelra who clambered blindly about her ice cave in search of the eggs.

Despite the Five Warriors mediocre efforts to keep Aleksandra's questions at bay, they could not stop the Skydancer from listening into the conversations. She had a good ear and she had always been suspicious of the Five Warriors.

Day by day, night after night, she strained her ear to catch their conversations. With Paris, she relayed what she heard and the two tried to piece the tale together. It just didn't add up. The Five's story that they told didn't make sense. How could the ice just fissure like that? The Icefields had stood for hundreds of years. And Aleksandra caught words that sounded too malicious to ignore.

Deciding to act, Aleksandra and Paris confronted the Five Warriors. They demanded answers and would not leave unless they had them. They told the Five what they'd overheard and, cornered by how much the two knew, Perrath admitted to their crimes. "Yes, we stole these eggs," he had snarled. "And we'd do it again. You did not know our old clanmates! They were weak! Foolish! They never would have gotten anywhere on their own. They contributed nothing to the Ice flight."

Disgusted, Aleksandra and Paris turned aggressive. They needed to get those eggs away from the Five, but they were outnumbered. And Sheogelra, the tricky witch, was not as blind as she had led them to believe. She wanted the riches the Five promised her, and she was not about to let two justice-seeking Skydancers get in her way.

Sheogelra was older than all of them and her magic was ancient. Fire and flame threatened to bring the cave down on all of them. She promised death to the pair and they were forced to flee, casting off into the night and hoping they wouldn't be followed. For years, they did not return.

Many months later, they returned in the company of Tsvetan. They were older, wiser, and expecting the worst but instead they found strong Aelius and over a hundred dragons following him with respect. This was exactly the clan the Five Warriors had wanted, but it did not hold the same hunger for power as they had. With Aelius leading them all, they were a virtuous clan of warriors and knights. In secret, Aleksandra and Paris promised each other to keep what they knew about the clan's past to themselves. It would break the spirit of all the dragons who had sought to join a noble cause and would heal nothing. With their secrets hidden away, the two dragons joined the clan as they would an old friend.
