On the steppes of the Gladeveins and on the edge of the Wilds, a tower looms, tall and lush, rivaling only the Behemoth in its height. It is carved primarily of stone, basalt and clay with inlaid veins of pulsing green sacridite and jade. Vines wrap around the outside, climbing ever higher, creeping towards the top and enveloping the internal glow in their shadowed lines.
The tower is ominous but familiar to the residents who live under its watch, within the several villages that have been there since the beginning. This area of the world is old, half buried under mud and built over ruins of villages that have long been lost to time. Their histories are sacred to them, their traditions more important than anything, and they live close-knit together, like thread in a tapestry.
Shelter is all that drew her here in the beginning. She was not mean to be an Oracle, did not even know what it was. The towers that decorated Sornieth had been abandoned a long time, dead some thought. Dormant thought others. Either way, the towers were far from her mind. She was angry, tired, and ready to lay down and give up. She had only wanted a place to stay, but in that time, those who lived there were no fan of strangers and drove her out. She settled on the tower, long abandoned. Nowadays, the green glow shines in the darkness and the carved stone shimmers even in moonlight. Pink and white flowers bloom across the surfaces as blackberry bushes decorate the base. But back then it was dead and silent.
The wooden doors were closed, oaken and warped through with both time and age, a dark umber that sagged under a termite infection and rot. She curled up under the overhang, desperate to escape the monsoons. Wood creaked under her skin as she sat. It was a painful curse.
As she slept, she dreamed. She dreamed of the Gladekeeper, a deity whom she had never held much though to. She dreamed she was in the Behemoth, the Gladekeeper beside, carving from beautiful cedar something new. Up here, the world was silent. She could see the Tangled Wood and Dragonhome far in the distance. And to the North and East, the endless expanse of the Evergreen Sea stretching all the way to the horizon. There was peace up here. Looking up at the deity, she looked back, her green eyes aglow with an ancient magic. A hoot sounded from below her, living vines shifted and moved in the gloom of the canopy.
Saturn awoke in the daylight, the rising sun glistening onto the puddles and streams all around her. The rains had finally ended, leaving only a humid mist in their place. The oaken doors lay open below her and the tower thrummed with power, pulsing veins creeping under her paws. An Oracle had been chosen.
These days the elusive oracle spends most of her days wandering her many gardens. She takes up several small islands with them, growing plants and herbs both native and not. Visitors come to her for potions and supplies and she grants them when she is in the mood. The top rooms of her tower lie mostly abandoned, unused and still covered in cobwebs as the ivy and vines are allowed to covet them as they please.
Some days she travels into the nearby villages, now a usual -- if not always entirely welcome -- sight. Although her sharp rejection has been forgotten by the generations of descendants now surviving here, she will never let go of the same stinging pain.

She may be withdrawn and prefer the isolation of her many gardens, but once you get her talking about something she loves, be prepared to listen. She's extraordinarily passionate and a loyal friend and ally. She was the first of this generation of Oracles to be chosen, the first to reawaken the ancient towers. |
