-Responsible for financial policy, as well as working with Freya to oversee the keeping of the trade ledgers.
-An old friend of Trekka's from her days in the Shifting Expanse. Caleb was another archmage candidate who was stripped of his standing and expelled from the program after being attacked by a Shade creature, an event that permanently scarred him and deactivated his magical abilities. When Trekka left, he went with her.
-What he lacks in magical ability after the run-in with the Shade sucked the magic from his body, he makes up for in intelligence, business acumen, and organizational skill. For as long as he's managed the port's books, almost nobody has managed to embezzle money or smuggle extra cargo in without him noticing.
-Losing most of his lightning magic has left him with lasting physical effects, most notably chronic pain, fatigue, and occasional fainting spells.
-Can use the charge from the power packs he carries to temporarily supplement his lost magical reserves -- while it's useful in a pinch, it's mostly limited to generating sparks and electrifying his own body defensively
-Attempted to sire heirs with Trekka to help her continue her bloodline once, a long time ago. However, her combined lightning and plague magic was so powerful compared to his lack of any usable magic that it overloaded the hatchlings' bodies, and they both died not long after birth. Caleb was the one who suggested Cody as a surrogate for her next attempt at heirs, a decision he has since begun to regret as both Trekka's and Cody's worst natures came to light in the aftermath of the hatchlings' murder.
