Ruth The White Matriarch Leader of Clan Pavois the mysterious white shadow 
 Ruth is an enigma. According to stories and rumors, she came to the Tangled Wood through a portal to another world, and found what would become the territory of Clan Pavois, infected by the Shade; and drove it away using some otherworldly magicks. Others believe that she was once infected by the Shade herself, and was saved by the Shadowbinder. No one actually talks to her about this, of course, it is all just whispers among the clan. Some of the older members of the clan have heard her quietly reminiscing to James about things none of them have ever heard of. On the rare occasion someone asks James about this, he says nothing, keeping his best friend's secret with absolute loyalty. Left: image 1 |

A more in-depth look. Backstory, etc. Secondary Image to the right: Image 2 However, the story of how the clan actually came to be is well known. Ruth was wandering the land which would one day become Pavian territory, silent and lost in thought. James was travelling Sorienth seeking a home, and had come to the Tangled Wood because he felt that the Shadowbinder was calling him. He found Ruth, wandering around, with injuries she hadn't noticed and didn't recall getting. He convinced her to follow him to a cave to rest, and James treated her wounds. Soon, another traveller came by their cave, a quiet pearlcatcher named Joanna, seeking refuge. Ruth decided then to form a clan, inspiration and purpose filling her heart. She wanted to help other dragons. She didn't know who she was or where she had come from, but she knew who she would become- a leader, and a protector. So she and James formed Clan Pavois, and with the help of the travellers who began arriving, built their home, Feregard Keep. |
