Birth of the Skylands

Not too long ago, a dragon by the name of Sky found himself stranded in a new world: not much of where he came from is known, other than he lived far off among some other star(s). He told the inhabitants of Sornieth (the World of Flight Rising) of the worlds he had been, which greatly interested the dragons who obviously had never known of any, other than their own. You see, some of these dragons thought it was pointless to continue this life of constantly defending their part of the column and so word did eventually spread across the flights, until eventually a group formed, awaiting this new way of life that was promised.

On Sky's command along with the strength of many dragons, 9 floating islands were formed, soon to be named The Skylands, that would serve as their new home. Although not derived nor born of the flight itself, 3 dedicated arcanists were appointed to one of the islands where a portal, created by Sky, for those seeking to return to the land below or for those seeking life among the clouds. their lives to learn its' magic and learning how to wield it. These consisted of 3 ancients: the twins, Star and Nova, derived from Nature flight blood along with a dragon, the All-Seeing, from Plague flight blood.

Once the other dragons arrived, they naturally formed their own kingdoms: Woodlands, Aquatide, Barrens, Embers, and Tundra. While these generally kept to their own elements, outsiders were welcome in although in places like the Barrens, Embers and Tundra kingdoms, living in those lands as a different element would prove hard when it came to survival. However, certain flights were (generally) banned. First was Arcane: to keep the world intact which the Arcanist is not necessarily known for (nearly ending the world twice). The only arcanist magic to be used was from the appointed 3, and Sky themself. Second was Lightning: feared due to their work in robotics, the dragons of the Skylands saw artificial intelligence as apathetic beings incapable of any form of sentimentality or empathy, and therefore were exiled since beings "lacked a moral compass, so could be swayed to destroy masses without remorse", and so forth. Whether or not these fears are true, these precautions were made to ensure the Skylands would keep their fragile peace: after all, it was created to be a haven from the warring dragons of the rest of the world.

_ The 3 Guardians _

Eldest of the three, the All-seeing is known for her vast extent of knowledge, hence the exaggerated expression "Only the All-Seeing could know!" She does keep track of history, maps, and so forth, but she does have many limits since she is still a mortal dragon. Nonetheless, the dragons tell tales of how she predicted fates.

Aside from her, there are the sisters known as Star and Nova: opposites in almost every way. After all, supernovas are explosions of a star- a destructive yet natural and necessary thing for existence to venture on. On the other hand, stars are a source of light and hope and are like a parent of planets, but of course, they too can lead to disaster if left unchecked. These names reflect the magic they are born with and live on to protect.

While Star has the duty of looking after familiars and restoring life wherever and whenever she can, Nova holds the role of defending her beasts and occasionally recruiting various magical creatures, both familiar and beast, for sacrifices to Sky.

_ Rise of Kingdoms _

Times changed, and eventually, a regional system was established: a council leader was also to be appointed for each region. A system of trials, known as the good and bad deeds they've done in their life was tested by Star and Nova, along with the possible future they hold which was tested by the All-Seeing. The dragons who desired this position were brought to the Portal Island and were first met by Star and Nova who walk them through their life til then, assessing whether they are of a good heart or not, followed by the All-seeing who would put them through simulations of potential situations they may face in the coming years. Ceremonies like this could take up to a week, but once they were selected, they led for life.

Unlike the flights, these dragons no longer followed the way of the deities like their ancestors did. Instead, they began worshipping the dragons of the Portal who maintained their new home and treated Sky as their deity naming their world the "Skylands" in his honor. They also developed their belief of spirits of the seasons and the cosmos and hosted festivals in their honor.
