There is one surefire way to distinguish the twins: their eyes.
Finn's eyes will remain locked on you. Even if only two of his eyes are visible, he will be watching you closely, all eyes directly laid upon you. It doesn't matter how much he trusts you--if he does at all, he cannot break any amount of eye contact that has been set on you.
They're different in personality; Finn can be hot-headed, overprotective, and suspicious. Even of those he trusts, he feels a sliver of uncertainty creep up at times.
If you can't identify who you might be approaching, and you haven't seen enough of their personality to gauge who it might be: look at their eyes.
