Once a youth, plucked away from 'neath his mother's wing. He only knew the stately, yellowing marble columns, and the vivid murals that adorn the walls of the sanctum. Things became clearer when the Sky Fell, as predicted by the blind Oracle. Once an heir, the boy found his own faith turning against him. The reining Exarch, his mentor, his father, stoked the flames as the boy was stripped of his possessions; A pouch of willow bark and lavender, silks, and a once-cherished set of panpipes all tasted the heat of the pyre.

There were no words that could give justice to the glory and horror of immolation. Fire is what sets man apart from beast, a slice of the sun in the hands of a mortal. Still a fool, still a beast, but with a power that can guide the lost and destroy nations with the faintest gust of wind. A flame starts with tinder and a spark. In order to for the flame to grow, cook, protect and glow, kindling is essential. Whether it be a scrap of old poetry, the old heart of a tree, or straw bedding, something must be given for the fire to start.

Child, they told you that they had no other choice. Soot and ash stung your already tearful eyes as you stood before your birthright. This shouldn't be happening. Someone should've stepped in. You could've fought. You could've ran. Maybe, if the gods were willing, your life could've been saved. But on that night, the gods remained absent, and the clergy had your trust. Kilig (Sister): The second child. She dreams of one day reuniting with the brother she's never known. But fate had other plans, and she is left to tend to the ashes.

The Exarch (Mentor): The closest thing Alisis has ever had to a father. The Exarch only expects the best of his heir, and he does not make it easy or fair.

Tao (Medium): The only one he is able to reach. Alisis finds the soothsayer to be good company, but fears for his spokesperson’s safety… Somethings need to be forgotten.
