Biography
Polaris
|
Bold ~ Risky ~ Withdrawn ~ Curious
"There is light is hiding behind the clouds, whether it is day or night, and the clouds shall harness that power into forks of light, bringing me to you" Call him a god if you will, Polaris possesses a book of knowledge which he shares to curious travellers to his realm, where they can gain knowledge about this alternative place. He is an immortal wolf on the storm, and a dragon of light, lightning, and darkness. |

About Polaris
Polaris was born under the lightweaver, in a mid-sized clan within the Hewn City. As a hatchling, he was told the stories inspired by its history, of how they had migrated between several flights, of how they battled in the coliseum, of the dragons sent to serve under their deity. It always confused him why their leader had moved them from lightning to shadow, and then to light when the abilities of harnessing electricity sounded much more lethal than adjusting the brightness.
He'd always fantasise about fighting epic battles against foes using his lightning abilities, his eyes flashing an electric blue. As he grew, he started to feel resentment against his flight and clan, as he realised he would remain a light dragon until death.
Once old enough, Polaris was trained and placed as a hunter-gatherer, something he never enjoyed. He was despicable towards the others, and jealous of any lightning-born dragon. Until one day he discovered the abilities of sorcery.
In his free time, he would study and experiment with sorcery - like a physical form of brewing, attempting to recreate the ability of lightning in a way he could apply to himself. He wanted to be rid of his light element, to change the yellow eyes he was cursed with.
One day, on a stormy night, he managed to harness the bolts from the sky into his own body. It was painful, but he could feel it working. He puffed out a cloud of black, and the air fuzzed around him. With a flashes of blue and a blinding yellow light, he found himself elsewhere.
Polaris eventually learned that this place was unlike home, and where he stepped, land would appear, barren at first, but with his mind's will and imagination, he was able to summon storms that helped terraformed the landscape.
Unfortunately for Polaris, he remained stuck as a light dragon, but he had gained his own godly abilities, including a connection to lightning (and even shadow). It was almost as if he was an embodiment of his clan's flight history.
He was able to return to sorneith and back again, and eventually was able to create external portals, where he invited dragons - (and allowed other life forms) - to join him in a new clan, a new world, his own: Apolis.
Though reluctant at first, most of his former clan eventually moved here, bringing with them the old history, history that would become like legends, as the landscape changed them and gifted this realm with new deity-level dragons, in the form of clan roles.
While he considered himself the creator of this new clan, he let them make their own cultures, preferring to tend to his realm, and invite others in. Years and years changed him, turning him into an immortal god, with the body of a wolf and a dragon.
Polaris had repaired his attitude, and eventually learned to accept that he was a light dragon, and would never be able to fully be a lightning dragon, except as a hybrid.

The Lore Book Apolis is a realm disconnected from sorneith (but through portals created by Polaris, it is possible to cross into). It was created by Polaris who is considered a god, capable of expanding the land or terraforming it. Divinities helped him to decorate and tend to the land, originating from the clan(s) that settled in this realm. Minor deities lie within their clans which were dragons trained to fulfil a role. That role can go towards terraforming, or tending, to apolis, or towards helping the clan - or even both. In the early days, it was a much more simple realm, but as Polaris' abilities improved - with experimentation, he was able to gift powers to the clans, creating divinities, improving the abilities of future deities. |
