TEAM CAPTAIN
A BRIEF JOURNAL ENTRY arbol just wanted to make some daisy chains and then somehow things happened. him and hamal enjoy frolicking in flower fields while hamal tramples the delicate flowers and arbol despairs. arbol doesn't actually enjoy frolicking with hamal. A HISTORY arbol was born, a small and tender thing, somewhere within the starfall isles. curious, inquisitive, but ultimately lazy and a dreamer, he contented himself to simply existing. for a very long time, that is exactly what he did. he traveled, he stayed away from others (for he had little interest in them and was more fascinated with the world) and he was. it was never his intent to start a clan. he neither wanted the responsibility or the social life that was included with it. fate would take him by the hands and force him into it. and arbol, ever passive, would grow to accept it. it began in a field of flowers. it was a place arbol had discovered long ago, half twisted by the magic of the arcane isles and the other half, left alone. he would stay here for hours and then days, content to dream and imagine but never react. and then came along an ugly little thing. she had no name, hardly any words, and she tore apart the flowers. arbol would have left, but the little dragon gave him no choice. one moment, she ripped up the ground, the next, she had become a fury of red and green, snapping and clawing for the much larger dragon. as she attempted to kill or maim or perhaps cause some sort of physical harm, arbol noted how thin she was. the strength in her limbs was gone. her teeth were little more than scraping pinpricks and her claws had no strength put behind them. no one had ever told arbol not to feed a wild animal. when she finished a meal of fish and plants, she stopped. she scratched herself, looked at him inquisitively, and then stayed. arbol made various attempts to rid himself of her, but she always found her way back to him. eventually, he gave up. while she was certainly a dragon, she was something lesser as well. she was vicious and feral, but, as arbol came to realize, lonely. he was never much of one for naming things, and, deciding he should probably call his new found friend something, dubbed her sad tomato. mostly because of her coloration. it stuck and she was of course delighted. it was one of her first words, even. arbol wanted to leave it at that. he wanted no one else in his life. he was not a clan leader. he was an unfortunate victim to the whims of life. he and tomato would have been fine by themselves, he insisted. but where arbol was solitary, tomato was not. she was the start of the clan. her behavior lent itself strangely well to picking up the lost, the strange, and the otherwise inept. arbol had no children of his own and he had no interest in a mate. the ones who joined the clan were outcasts and arbol hadn't the heart to get rid of them. in time, the dreamer and the ravenous had started something unique. now arbol finds himself managing a kaleidoscope of dragons, keeping them from hurting themselves and others. he doesn't want to admit it, but he has become rather attached to his strange family. |
