Not long ago, a small clan existed. Hidden deep within the forests far away from any others, they lived a peaceful life. Within that small clan, was a small hatchling named Chemica. He lived a rather normal life. A big family like most dragons, caring parents, and a safe place to live. However, she was a rather adventurous little dragon. He would often wander out past dark, getting into little scuffles with low level monsters that roamed the forest surrounding the village. Of course, this wasn't uncommon with younger dragons. Every dragon had to learn somehow. As long as they followed one rule.
Do not go past the end of the trees. Where...Am I? Chemica woke up in a small cell, a strange chain collar around his neck. The last thing he remembered was running through the forest, being chased by monsters of all kinds like he normally did on his little nightly explorations, then everything going black. And now he was here. A strange cell with a chain around his neck. "Help! Where's mama!?" The young dragon screamed in distress, trying to fly the best he could at his young age before crashing to the ground with a thud. He was stuck. I mean, life wasn't too bad in the lab. He was brought food daily and at least had a roof over his head. Sometimes the people in the lab would talk to him. He couldn't understand them, but he liked to pretend. He liked to pretend that they were reassuring him he'd get out eventually. He'd be able to go back and see his mother. His father. His siblings. Everyone. He wanted to run back and say he was sorry for causing trouble. That he would stop running out at night. And then, things just got worse. One day, some strange dragons came in with white coats and gloves. They held some strange item, in it, a purple-colored liquid. He didn't seem to comprehend what was going on until he felt a sharp pain in his side. The world seemed to spin around him as he fell to the ground with a thud. This happened. Day. After day. After day. It was hell to put it lightly. Each time it was a different chemical, each effecting him differently. Some doing practically nothing at all, some bringing him near the brink of death. Sometimes, he preferred the latter one. Because then, they'd stop coming for a little. Then, he'd have some peace. By then, he'd lost track of how long he'd been stuck here. Months? Years? Where were his parents? Did... Did they forget about him? As the time went on, his feelings of hopelessness turned into a feeling of betrayal. Why did they stop looking for him. Was he that replaceable? He then used that helplessness to fuel something else. A need. A need to live his own life. How long could he live like this? It only took one wrong injection and it was all gone. So he waited. He waited and plotted. He knew when the scientist came down. He knew how strong the chain was. So for weeks. For weeks he tugged at the chain, clawing at it the best he could. Then, those weeks turned into months. But that was fine. Because one day he had a stroke of luck. It snapped free. Now that he was free, it didn't take him long to scratch a hole into the bars. And just like that, he was out. Or, at least out of the cell. He wasn't as small as he used to be. Not to mention it had been years since he'd seen anything outside of the walls of his cell. It didn't take long for him to get caught. However, he had one advantage over his captives. After all, he had the chemicals. While they did cause hell for him at the time, he was somewhat of a super-hu... er... super-dragon. At the beginning, he could easily fight off the few ones that came at him. But as time went on, he got cornered. Cornered between a strange glass tube of a bubbling purple liquid and a few more than a few angry scientist. If you could call them that. So, he made a choice. In a swift kick there was a loud crash; glass and the strange purple liquid splattered everywhere. Including on him and on the monsters surrounding him. and then, he ran. He ran like his life depended on it. And it did. |
