Abecedarian

Abecadarian loves words. She is never happier than when she is curled up with a new book or scroll between her claws. She enjoys digging into the etymology of various words as well, tracing them back to their roots in ancient draconian, and she will bore other dragons with exhaustive explanations of a word's origins and uses throughout the centuries.

She is interested in other languages too. She is teaching herself to speak Coatl, and has become tolerably competent at it, though Coatl dragons often tell her that her accent is atrocious. Eventually she would like to learn the languages of the various beast clans, but she has not yet found anybeast to teach her.

Her philosophy is "why use only one word when you can use ten?" This causes her speech to be extremely flowery, and sometimes difficult for other dragons to decipher. If another dragon is willing to struggle through this, however, they find that she is actually quite well-informed on a number of different subjects, though the subjects themselves have very little connection between them.

She has been fairly happy learning from Jian, one of the most knowledgeable dragons in the Windrover Clan, and the most exciting trip of her life was when he brought her to the library where he was born. She spends any treasure she happens to get on new books, because she never feels she has enough of them. However, she can never seem to give up any of the books she collects, and carrying them with the traveling clan has become quite difficult. She has had to ask other members to help her carry them from place to place, and they are not always exactly eager to do so.

She has been told more than once to leave them behind, to give them to another clan, or at least to find somewhere to keep them until they pass that way again, but she can never bear to be parted from them. She has several times loaded herself so far down with them that she can't even walk, let alone fly, and the others are forced to take pity on her and share the burden out between them.

"But why do you need so many?" someone always asks.

She cocks her head as if she can't understand why they even have to ask. "Because immediately upon relinquishing a manuscript, I shall invariably require the information contained therein. And if such is the case, how should I retrieve said information should the manuscript in question not be on my person nor in my immediate vicinity?"

This usually silences the questioner.

However, she is aware of the trouble involved in transporting her books, and so has decided to leave the traveling Windrover Clan and search for a permament place to build her own den, eagerly looking forward to stocking it with all the books she possibly can.
