Mate: Astraeus (Spookyboo's Clan)
Appearances can be deceiving. In Hekate's case, that is incredibly true. She is not, in fact, a Plague dragon-- she hails from the Starfall Isles, and has never ventured into the territories held by the Plague clans at all. But the strange affliction that twisted her body and set an unholy flame in her eyes makes her seem as if she was born at the shore of the Wyrmwound.
Her illness has its root in a far more harmless source: Hekate’s mate is Astraeus, another Arcane dragon who has found a home within a Plague clan. Unfortunately, it turns out that his resistance to the blights upon the Plague lands is not shared by his mate-- Hekate was infected with an insidious disease during their first dalliance. Fortunately, she is very skilled in the arts of healing and has managed to halt the progression of her illness. While she is no longer contagious, most members of Clan Gyre avoid her unless they are too gravely injured to go without a healer’s touch.
She does not blame Astraeus for what befell her, why would she bite the messenger? And his familiarity with the more disturbing members of his clan make her lingering illness and disfiguration easy to ignore. They are perfect for each other.
