One of the two founders of the Golden Canopy Clan, Iskra moved to the Viridian Labyrinth as a preteen and immediately befriended Syrneas, another Fae around her own age. The two spent their adolescence learning and getting into mischief together, as well as sharing some mutual attraction, and when Syrneas decided to start his own lair, Iskra followed.

Always close friends, the pair soon had their first clutch. However, there were many difficulties - two of their three hatchlings did not survive the first day, and their bodies were returned to the soil for the Gladekeeper to watch over. Their youngest child, Hydrangea, however, grew up strong, and would eventually depart for her mother's homeland, the Shifting Expanse. Syrneas and Iskra, mutually deciding that they were better off as friends rather than mates, split apart amicably, and settled in to run the clan as friends. At any rate, soon there would be other additions to the clan, like Syrneas' eventual mate Lysson and Iskra's own eventual mate, Eden, with whom she has more than made up for the loss of her two firstborns. She also has the distinction of being the very first member of the clan to befriend a familiar, and now her elk is a loyal and steadfast companion to her daughter Renata.

Her mind enriched by being able to invent and create, she turned down the position that Syrneas offered of deputy, allowing Lysson to take the position as well. Still, she serves as a trusted adviser as well as friend to both of them, and is fully engaged by the day-to-day workings of the clan, as well as helping to raise her granddaughter Callie and her reborn daughter, Renata.

As she still maintains a fondness for the Shifting Expanse, she serves as the Lightning flight's representative in the Golden Canopy clan.
