Moon

Upon closer examination, one would realize something off about this dragon. Its skin is made of metal, and its long, lanky legs make a suspicious squeaky noise when it walks. This is because it is not a dragon. It is an animatronic. Moondrop and its counterpart, Sundrop, were designed for the care of hatchlings when their parents needed a break. Moon was in charge of naptime. The formerly white-eyed attendant was calm, gentle, and, over time, developed a fondness for the children it guided to sleep. Him and Sun had a strong bond during that time. They were a team, after all, and Moon found the other animatronic's excited chatter to be humorous and somewhat comforting when they were alone in the dark. However, things would not always stay this way. Someone or something slipped a virus into his internal systems, and every protocol or care he had for the little ones slowly began to fade away. He became someone else's animatronic, and dragons had begun to notice... especially Sun, who saw bits of it through their counterpart's eyes, and heard the screams. Several hatchlings began to go missing during naptime, dragged away by the now horrifyingly sadistic Moon to its new master. And, despite considerable effort, no one's been able to find the children yet. Unfortunately, no one's able to tell them that it was no use. They were already dead. To prevent further incidents, naptime has since been cancelled. The dragons in charge of Moon and Sun tried to shut the star-themed bot down, but no matter what they try, Moon always comes online in the dark. Stuck in the basement of a broken-down factory, Moondrop has been collecting dust, with their only company being the broken machinery and horror novels scattered across the floor. Sunny has long since gone silent in the link between their systems, and its hard for him to admit that he misses their voice... Maybe some of that kind, caring naptime attendant might still be in there somewhere, its voice buried by the virus who lies in wait to continue its work. But every now and then, a curious dragon will venture down into the depths of the darkness, and their hunt will begin again...
