Briar

Her own mother, Blackrose, used to stay in the clan temporarily after losing her first batch of hatchlings. She never fully connected with the clan but they helped her to get back on her feet. In return, being a skilled fighter, she aided them by protecting borders if necessary but eventually left for the Plaguelands with her new mate soon after the hatchlings were no longer just eggs.
Briar is one of her second batch of hatchlings. Both Blackrose and her mate, Zeta, made sure that all their children were able to survive in harsh conditions in the Plaguelands. As parents they were very strict and no-nonsense, a word of praise here and there is all their hatchlings would get in the form of 'parental love'. Briar was a good student but different at the same time. Both her brother and sister didn't seem (or didn't show) to want parents that are more loving. Briar ate up any stories that Blackrose used to tell them when they were younger, about the lands of the Arcane. Why in the world would her parents move from those amazing places to here, where everything is rotten, putrid, sick and revolting was beyond her. But, alright, she thought. She'll stay here. With her family. She belongs, right?
Well... no. Because there was a point where enough was enough for her.

When her family decided they'd pursue ways to fight directly under their deity, Plaguebringer, Briar knew that she could no longer follow. She tried, she begged them to not go. Of course, they didn't listen - this is what their purpose in life is, afterall. Their deity. Their Mother of Plague. They didn't show much of a remorse, or sadness when Briar declared she'd stay. That she would not join them. Even more: she'd leave the Plaguelands and live with the clan her mother was with.
There was silence for a bit and then acceptance. Nobody tried to persuade her otherwise, or even told her they'd miss her. Infact, the only thing she got, after being wished good luck in an almost cold and dismissive manner, was Blackrose's gaze that lingered for a few longer seconds.

And then they were gone and she was, for the first time, completely and utterly alone. Briar stared after her family of dragons until they were nothing but dots in the distance. It was sunset, the rays spreading as much as they could across the sick-ridden lands. Her eyes became misty.
''It's the sun,'' she thought to herself, and looked towards the ground. ''Too bright. It stings.''

Eventually she did make her way out of the Scarred wastelands and set her sights to the Starfall isles, hoping to find the clan her mother once took refuge in.
