Found by another clan he found no home among them. As soon as he hatched he was put up for auction much to his shame and sorrow. Agapito was the one who begged for him to be bought and since then the two have been inseparable.

Though he got along well with the other hatchlings of the lair, he and Agapito latched onto Ferian, another dragon who had been abandoned. Discussion at first, was difficult due to their differences in breed. However the three were often seen together, making the attempt to speak of whatever crossed their minds.

Once they grew Ilario and several faes came under Almeria's wing to train their magical abilities. It was in this way that his change occurred. It is unclear what spell changed him into a Snapper but he has since been happy with the transformation.

While still close to Ferian, Ilario and Agapito are often together, roaming the outside of the clan and resting in their private dens not far from the clan's main lair.
