Selene's background is a bit of a mystery. She was clearly born in the Shifting Expanse, and has a sister there by the name of Nyugalom, but neither parent remained in the Stormcatcher's domain, or even together, for that matter. Falion the Imperial of the Water flight found his home in the Windswept Plateau, and Nebulium the Obelisk of the Shadow flight went to the Sea of a Thousand Currents.

Selene herself came to the Icewarden's domain, and it is assumed that she flew the distance from her birthplace to the Dripcave Dregs, though no one can be sure. She appeared out of the icy mists like a ghost, and she looked the part. Unsettling in her Sanddune Rags and bony ornaments, she nevertheless gave no indication of hostility, and as she was nearly frozen to death from her flight, she was accepted into the lair as graciously as possible.

For a few days following, she ran a high fever and was barely conscious, and was tended by none other than Eros, who, new to the lair himself, felt he needed to make himself useful. When the fever finally broke and Selene came to her senses, Eros' face was the first one she saw. From that point onward, they have been inseparable.

Selene doesn't speak much to the others, unless it is in riddles, and she spends a lot of time alone in meditation. She claims she had the strangest, prophetic dreams while she was ill, and she feels it is her duty to interpret them now. She can often be found writing strange, cryptic notes and symbols on scraps of parchment, or painting them on the walls of the den. Eros doesn't understand it, but he supports her anyway, and makes sure that the others give her the space she needs.
