Koufuku was born the first daughter of the king and queen of Umbra Noctis and Astor's younger twin sister. While the two of them were practically opposites in personality- he was lively and social while she was quiet and reserved- they got along very well (though in their younger years it was mostly because they both loved their friend Masayoshi; it took them a little while to truly get along on their own). As she grew up with her friends, she was spoiled by Masayoshi and teased by Astor, but knew they both loved her dearly - and because she knew Astor was always getting into trouble and Masayoshi was always rushing to save him, Kou learned how to heal so she could take care of her silly playmates in return.

As they grew older, though, the time the three of them could manage to spend together began to dwindle, and Koufuku realized (with great distress) just how much she relied on them. She did not stop trying to spend time with her friends, but she did begin to try to become braver- to not hide behind Masayoshi when she was scared or let Astor do all the talking in social situations. Her friends have noticed her efforts and support her as best they can, though Masayoshi does sometimes forget and spoil her more (it's a work in progress, but she doesn't mind; it's in the imperial's nature to take care of and dote on both her and her brother).
