It's well known that plague born Imperials are a brutal lot. As denizens of the Scarred Wasteland, they are dedicated to the spread of disease and metamorphic madness. Imperials born under the Plaguebringer are expected to be virulent and vicious without exception. Those who are weak are "exalted". A great honor to be sure- but to outside onlookers there is nothing more barbaric than throwing one's own young into the pit of contagion called the Wyrmwound.

How unfortunate then, that Vrael didn't fit the bill of the perfect plague born Imperial. Vrael was born the smallest hatchling of the clutch. His parents sneered in disgust at his patches of soft, white, scaleless skin. His seemingly vulnerable, weak and mottled exterior was an embarrassment to the clan. It was quickly decided that he would be destined for exaltation.

But for all of Vrael's supposed weakness, he was a clever pup. He heard the whispers and he saw the Wound upon the horizon. There was no love in his parent's eyes. In his heart and blood he knew that if he stayed his short life would come to an end. So he ran.
