Biography
Zikal
"Do you hear that? It.... It is speaking." Zikal is an interesting character in the clan. His feathery mask, and the odd aura that lingers around him, make him a very unusual character. Despite his oddities, Zikal provides lots of value to the clan as a gatherer, and a manger of animals: Apparently, they follow his orders as though the gods themselves were shaping the actions of the beasts. The Spiral's animal-calming effect seems to affect fish and other aquatic life forms stronger than land-based animals. Zikal claims that this was because he was raised on a raft, in the middle of the Sea of a Thousand Currents, and was taught to move and speak in the language of the waves. As to who taught Zikal, the Spiral provides no context or identification to the entity (or entities) responsible for it. Even when other animals follow him around, Zikal claims that their loyalty and actions are the product of "It"'s will. When other dragons ask about "It," Zikal often responds only with a short statement, before moving on, ignoring the question entirely. "Ah, so you do not know of it?.... How unfortunate. I suppose it has not revealed itself to you." Some dragons claim that the entity Zikal is referring to is just the product of his own insanity- Believing that he was alive on a raft for weeks or months or years as a child, they believe that Zikal may have gone crazy during the time he spent on the sea (Especially considering Spirals don't usually eat meat), and this manifested itself in a permanent way. Other dragons claim that Zikal is being influenced by one of the Gods, or the Shade. Though doubt and uncertainty surround this entity, Articuus appears to trust it's judgement in certain cases, almost blindly. When evidence points neither way, Articuus might seek insight on the problem from Zikal, who offers abstract and reason-less judgement, besides the claim that it is the "Will of It." Through this insight, Articuus acts, and in a surprisingly large number of cases, "It" is correct, and Zikal's judgement shines true. "See? It was just as It has told me- Written in the stars, and upon the very fabric of reality, when all else fails, It's will is true!" |
