Personality
Kalinais is the Bellwork's main quality control dragon. She's well-liked by the other dragons for her caring manner and encouragement while she's doing her job, offering up suggestions on what they might do next time to avoid the issues she finds. Even so, she doesn't coddle them and is willing to tell them hard truths when they need it. |

Her skill at tempering her responses toward dragons with varying levels of experience could have earned her a place on the council, but she has few ambitions and is more interested in keeping to the underground garden she shares with the Works healers and herbalists. She tends toward a sort of cheerful pessimism about things. She pretends to be surprised when things go wrong, as they often do, a behavior others catch on to quickly. She's very loyal to friends, family, and Works and could be considered one of the pillars of the Bellworks on her own. Being an observant sort has been a great benefit to her, and she put it to good use when learning to be a botanist. Having a keen eye for detail and an insatiable curiosity, she is led to ask more questions than she could ever answer on her own, and she keeps journals filled with notes on unfinished thoughts and experiments. She's very close to Skelisum, her partner, and isn't afraid to show that in front of others. Making sure others know how she feels about them is a priority for her, although she does try to be politic when talking to those she does not trust or get along with. While she does do a vast amount of research she jealously holds her cards close to her chest and hasn't ever shared all of her discoveries with anyone, worried they might claim them as their own. |

"Sometimes I find it difficult to keep going with the garden. Whatever keeps coming down and eating my plants has yet to show itself. The Nocturnes like to talk about this beast down here they named the Caller- could that be it? I find it hard to believe the tundras would come into the garden without telling anyone, and I know the herbalists cut the plants. They have better things to eat. Whatever it is, it had better stay way from the floracats and their cindermint."

History
Hatched from an egg that Uskir found while fighting, Kalinais grew up under th guidance of Chantico and Arrak. The two of them tried to figure out what to do with her when she showed no interest in fighting and seemed to care very little for the casting of bells and the melting of metal. It was Uskir who realized that the young Coatl had been absorbing all of the information she'd been learning, she just didn't care enough to put it together into a functional job. The Bellmistress suggested that she try out being the Work's first official quality control dragon, and she discovered that she greatly enjoys such detail-oriented work. |

Her fascination with botany started on an outing with the gatherers, when she encountered some of the strange plants that grow in the Ashfall Waste and brought home samples to study. Kalinais is in charge of keeping track of the kinds of bells that come out of the forges before they hit the shelves out front. She spends her days looking for poorly made seams, loose gemstones, malformed clappers and various other minor defects. When she's not doing this she's carefully cultivating a small amount of heat-resistant vegetation in one of the outer tunnels, which she sometimes finds raided by some thing from outside the clan. One of her goals is to catch whatever it is when it comes in to eat her garden but she has yet to be successful. Outside of gardening, she enjoys helping out at the Bellworks creche, entertaining the young dragons there by teaching them how to make daisy chains and flower crowns. The older ones she teaches how to tell if a plant is poisonous or not, and how to make a variety of colorful pigments from some of the items in the vault. |
