No one knew where they came from, the portals.

And no one knew who she was, the god-child beyond them. Though her influence spanned worlds, and her small form was worshipped by many, few ever heard her voice. Even fewer were blessed by her touch.

Yet all of them felt her will; for within the portals that winked in and out of existence all across the multiverse was a paradise, and those lucky enough to make the pilgrimage to its center were granted life forever held lovingly within its cavern walls.

Though at first reminiscent of the cold, dark halls of Hades' domain, at the center true believers found a magnificent carved city-- tiers of bustling streets, lively markets, beautiful gardens, all stacked atop each other-- ever-reaching towards the paradoxical constellations waiting upon the stone ceiling so far above.

A gift for all of them from their most precious and elusive lady.

Those few closest to her, the ones that ruled in her stead, were reluctant to speak of their diminutive deity; still, some small details would be prized out over time. Her body was not made of vulgar flesh and bone, but of the softest fabrics and the finest porcelain. No one could say where she came from, but a scholar once described her essence as both Olympian and Chthonic, held together by something more universal than either.

All speculation aside, the only thing that everyone in her paradise could be sure of was that their godling loved them, and they loved her.
