______ In another life, Lamaya was a proud soldier of the Tenev Clan, situated at the border between the Plague Flight and the Wind Flight. Her clan was involved in several beastclan ambushes that sparked a war between the two factions. Lamaya’s whole life had been surrounded by war; her early memories were that of barracks training.

Her relationship with her parents was distant and fraught, and she barely knew the rest of her family. Most of the close connections she found were with her comrades. One of them was Shadow, a soldier in her battalion. The two fought alongside each other in combat, saving the other’s lives for at least a dozen times. They had trained together since hatchlings, which was where they developed their bond over time.

But the war had wore Lamaya down. Tired of seeing her comrades lost to the conflict, and from seeing the bloodshed and destruction, she sought for some escape, but never acted upon it. Until she met Dune, a geologist and cartographer who had been hired to make maps. Lamaya acted as an escort for Dune, where the two fell in love. They ran off from the camp, escaping to the Bamboo Boroughs, where she now resides with Dune.
