Biography
Soldier
Any outsider will likely see Iolite first. He has made it his job to speak with those that would speak to the clan, and for good reason: he is the one cunning enough to know who to make a friend and who to regard as foe, and even who to ignore, when he has to. It is a lofty and important position, of course...but that isn't to say that he lets it go to his head. No, he just does what he has to to help the others and the clan at large. It's a pleasure to do, not a chore, or something he manipulates for his own selfish gain.
He has always been loyal, even in the old days when he was a soldier, and he doesn't plan on changing that now.
But his current pursuits are not in war and battle (though parts of his usual attire imply otherwise to those who don't know him well), but in books and scrolls and other such things, when he isn't busy being the diplomat. They're difficult to find, sure, but completely worth the time and effort, and his part of the lair is practically filled with them from top to bottom. He's always investigating some new theorem or idea or philosophy, and he's always perfectly happy to talk about them to any who are interested! ...Even if he can sometimes go on a little too long, to the point he starts boring them instead. But he does try to be sensitive to that.
And considering that unusually-sharp intellect and wit...perhaps it's a good thing he is as loyal as he is. He could easily make himself a force to be reckoned with, if he ever decided to change that.
