Acid Ant

While many ants are able to spray formic acid to subdue their prey, these particular ants are among the few whose acid poses a threat to dragon hide.

Laying against the roots of an oak tree. Etym watched as the storm overhead began to unleash its fury upon the earth. She held her newfound treasure closer to her chest. "Here little one, I'll keep you warm." Cradled in the warmth of Etym's scales was a baby rabbit. Having been discovered on one of her many fishing trips. The small creature had unfortunately been born with a missing hind leg and cast aside by its mother. Etym having seen the poor animal scooped him up, just as she had always done when coming across a poor soul in need. "The storm will pass soon enough little one and we can get you home and fed." Truthfully Etym wasn't sure if he would make it through the night, he appeared sickly and weak. Yet no matter what she would do what she could for this little ball of fuzz in her arms.

When the storm had finally subsided Etym made her way back home. Returning to her cave Etym set herself to work ensuring the bunny was warm set aside in his own bed. Once he was settled she began mixing a solution of which was safe for him to drink. Putting the dish to the little creatures mouth Etym encouraged him to drink and to her delight he began to lap up his fill. Until he peacefully fell asleep. "Well there's hope little one." Ensuring he was still warm Etym left his side to begin making her own food. She made sure to check on him often and just before she went to sleep she encouraged him to eat a little more. "With luck little one we'll see each other in the morning." Crawling into her hammock Etym fell asleep for the night.

Upon awaking in the morning Etym discovered her new found friend had unfortunately passed away peacefully in the night. Gently wrapping him in the blanket she had given him Etym took him outside and began to dig.

Sitting back Etym looked around at the other little graves that she had marked outside her house. "Welcome him with open arms everyone, I'm sure he could use it." As tears began to cloud her vision Etym was interrupted by a voice. "He is welcome where he is going as it is where his story began." Turning her head Etym was faced with a baby blue dragon draped in flowers and silks. Surrounding her bloomed beautiful flowers Eytm knew she had never planted. Where had this dragon come from? She lived in the middle of nowhere on purpose after all. Realizing she'd been staring too long Etym spoke. "I'm sorry I never heard you approach." "No, you wouldn't." The dragon reached down making a bouquet out of the flowers at her feet. Etym watched as the dragon walked towards her and left in her wake flowers bloomed from the ground. Sitting next to Etym the stranger placed the flowers on the grave. When sitting next to the stranger Etym had a sense of familiarity about her. As if they had met before. Breaking the tension Etym gestured to the flowers. "I've never seen a spell quite like that." Chuckling the dragon spoke. "This is no spell." Her laughter had not been of mal intent but instead seemed to ease the tension Etym had been clinging onto. "May I ask your name." "I'm surprised you do not know it by now." Etym simply returned the strangers statement with a puzzled expression. A smile drew itself across the strangers face. "Every living being knows my name, it is sung throughout the trees I breathed life into, screamed above us by the birds whose wings I handcrafted and whispered amongst the smallest animals I have whittled life into. You know who I am as I carved life into the very egg you were born from." An answer suddenly appeared in Etym's mind. "Creation."
