Bio: It was actually Dr. Light's idea to have a robot with two heads. He and Albert were deep into a discussion about a hypothetical scenario involving an Emperor, and if there was even a remote possibility that bots could be used to fend such a thing off. Dr. Wiley pointed out that it was such a strange, unpredictable scenario that a dragon would have to be close enough to know what was going on and give orders.

But Dr. Light decided that was too dangerous and wondered if a bot could be made that could handle an evolving situation. When Dr. Light listed off the functions that a bot would need to have in order to do so, Dr. Wiley joked that it might be possible--with multiple AIs in the same chassis. "A monster to fight monsters."

Only, soon, it wasn't a joke. Dr. Light built a body with two heads, and Dr. Wiley provided the intricately interconnected artificial brains that could actually outthink an unpredictable scenario and respond in kind. It was one of the few bots that Dr. Light actually approved weapons on from the start. And it was also one of the ones that was never actually activated until Wiley took over. Though at first, Wiley had Duo out there on patrol, and it did quite well with that...he thought of an even better use for the bot, in time.

With the complex information it could handle and recall, as well as its intimidating looks, it was the perfect robot to perform interrogations when there was a prisoner. Duo will often have an entire good cop/bad cop routine with its heads, which are almost eerily in sync. And with razor-sharp teeth and retractable spikes, Duo is still an excellent fighter in a pinch. It is, on the other claw, a lot more chatty than most of the robots. Dr. Wiley still shakes his head when he wonders why Light agreed to help build Duo, but he hasn't regretted awakening it!
