To Sylvor, the Court Scribe for King Nirodromeus
From Ivenka, the Illustrator, Observer and Second Assistant to Chief Observer of Orbiting Construct

Dear Sylvor,
In my short time under King Nirodromeus, I started to appreciate your diligence in keeping a proper paper trail - memory is an unreliable thing. As such, I was checking through my journals and decided to write you about what occurred to me since my departure, for posterity.
It was weird to me how few dragons heard about the Skystrider. It was a busy day, I get that, but the vision of this wooden serpent thrown from atop the Crescendo... I see it in my dreams to this day.
When I arrived at the crash site, I was awestruck by the Skystrider. Others talked about its grand size, impossible engineering or its resemblance to the Wind Serpent, but I was amazed by the intricacy and apparent care that went into it. One of the clan's harpies told me about how they painted this beast - it must have taken days just to mix the paints for its body. I closely examined the craft - it was a joint effort between several beastclans and allied dragon clans to paint, furnish and engrave it. I felt kinship.
There was magnetism to the place. Sure, I liked Hastur's graveyard - it gave me space and time that I needed when days became too loud. But I returned to the crash site for the sense of life that permeated the place. The twins, Grim and Hope, took care of me and anyone else who visited and, somehow, it never felt like too much. It was bustling - what seemed like wreckage a week ago now looked like a small city, resembling from afar a giant, curled up skeleton.
I somehow befriended a fellow Pearlcatcher - Pyrrhea. She listened quite obsessively about everything I had to tell about the Icefield. I showed her some of the journals I scribble in - she said that it reminded her of her mother's - Emera's designs, how detailed it is. I said, "the details keep me company". It sounded very sad for some reason. That was the moment I decided to leave our town.
I first decided to study under Emera, but was quickly overwhelmed by the extent of her work. She did pick up on my talent to visualize and commit designs to paper, so I helped her with that. One day, I was told that we were flying to the Windswept Plateau - they were launching a new construct to orbit the Crescendo and needed my help. I never left the Icefields before and was anxious to see new places, see the home of Pluma - my harpy friend.
We traveled north, along the Floes, all the way to the Starwood Strand, where Emera had a chance to reconnect with some of her old friends. I won't lie - some of those Arcane characters are quite peculiar, even more than our Moth. A reclusive fae, talking like a proper dragon - Arcane is the only place to see such oddity.
An unfamiliar Pearlcatcher intercepted us near the border, where the Starwood ends and the Wasteland starts, said a bird told her about trespassers-to-be and escorted us through the Wandering Contagion in less than a day. With friends like these, the Plague lands don't seem so scary! I would never risk walking there alone, of course, but they made it look so effortless...
