When welcoming new members in their clans, some Nature clans decide to make up the story of a dragon similar to the newcomers. Written as a legend or a true story, the goal is to let the new members know they're safe, loved, and seen. When Aberrations started joining one of the many Nature clans after being discovered by the entirety of dragon kind, they were welcomed with the story of Banquise, which has since started spreading far and wide to Nature clans that decided to ignore Aberrations' Plague origins.
Winters ago, A baby Aberration was spotted in the forest by a clan's elder, a Guardian. At the time, it wasn't acknowledged as such. Instead, it was told to be a two headed breathing statue of ice by anyone who had witnessed it. An unknown creature which refused to move from its spot, asleep. The Guardian who had long lost their original charge took a liking to the odd creature. The impossible happened, the Guardian had found a new charge. Every day, the elder would check what it would call "the sleeping baby", understanding this odd creature might be an unknown breed. As Spring came, flowers bloomed from the baby's closed eyes, while its ice scales started melting away. The Guardian tried to keep the baby cold, but they could only witness it getting significantly distorted as time passed. By summer, the baby had entirely disappeared and become a puddle of water. The elder mourned the loss of the baby, yet kept returning to its spot every day, as a Guardian would. No matter the rain, storms, beasts, the Guardian kept returning to their Aberration friend. Seasons passed and as seasons always do, Winter came back. The Elder, following their daily routine, was greeted by the baby who had seemingly never left its spot, still asleep. It is said Banquise is the unstoppable cycle of ice, seasons and life.

Banquise is meant to be a celebration of both Plague traditions through an Aberration protagonist and the cycle of life and death, and a celebration of the Nature flight through the setting and Guardian's attitude, on top of oral storytelling, one of the most ancient socializing traditions in primitive civilizations.
