Fudge

It was obvious from the start that something wasn’t right. When the egg hatched, the dragonlet emerged, chirped once at the tree sheltering the clutch, and promptly fell asleep.

But snappers don’t sleep.

Three long days later, it became obvious that they don’t wake up, either.

The little tiger boy with eyes so green he couldn’t look away from the Viridian; the lushness of the jungle had captured him. All the healers and mages in the land could do nothing, managing to wake him for only minutes at a time, their medicine temporary. It became all too clear what must be done— for his sake, the boy must go.

He was sent away then, pushed in a direction with strict instructions to never look back. The Earthshaker took him in, for if he could not be given the forests he could be given the next best thing— the soil from which all life originated. Here was the land where he could shed all the lonely tears he wanted, and nothing would grow from the dirt.
