Biography
Aza was rather sheltered. With a group in the Starwood Strand, she was one of many thousands of other Fae that took residence in the sap lairs built around a tree in the Strand, high up in the treetops and out of reach.
But that provided no benefit in preventing the disasters that wrought havoc on their clan and the clans everywhere.
They heard whispers of the other gods going missing, and feared for their own. But nothing was done, nothing was attempted in order to prevent the same thing happening.
When the first wave of energy struck, the Fae were severely weakened. Because of their high sensitivity to the arcane energies around them, it rendered them almost immobile in their colony, with only the younger and more hardy Fae able to move. Aza was able to move just less than these young ones, she admired their tenacity and dedication even in the confusion that had been left in the wave's aftermath. Food was provided to those unable to hunt for themselves, and the young Fae managed to keep a lot of the colony alive.
But then the second pulse of arcane energy hit their tree. This pulse was stronger, with a longer buildup of time behind it, and was the end for many of the immobile and once strong young ones. The colony had gone from thousands to below one hundred in such a short space of time. It was then that she began to realise that, oddly, she wasn't able to die but her companions were. Aza had been a rather average Fae, she had no outstanding abilities and had existed on the fringes of the colony... So what had done this?
Aza was nursed by the few still living- those that were not mourning over loved ones or those that were close to them. She was alive, but this was because of her surroundings. Not because of her own strength. She'd sapped the arcane energy from around her to unconsciously ensure she survived.
As soon as she was able to move, she left. She'd heard rumours that needed examining, and couldn't bear staying in the wastes of her colony any more.
