Hera is the commune's healer. She's incredibly passionate about her work and all that she does, and goes above and beyond to keep everyone healthy and safe. When she isn't actively mixing remedies or working on a patient, even on her off hours you'll find her nose deep in some medical textbook, rolling her pearl absentmindedly back and forth with her claw while she focuses. When Hera does leave her office or rarely takes a little time off, she spends the opportunity catching up with her life-mate Hansu, not usually on herself. Like Bertrada (whom she considers a close friend... Bertrada considers her a neutral acquaintance.) usually, she has to be thoroughly convinced to take time for her own needs and desires. Eventually, Alras put his foot down, insisting that she take an apprentice to take some of the pressure off of herself. Hera reluctantly agreed, choosing Haeleta as her successor. Haeleta is thankfully an eager learner who shares much of Hera's passion for healing and caretaking. She often also joins the chorus of dragons begging Hera to take a break, reiterating that the whole reason she's even her apprentice is to cover for her now and again! While Hera may trust Haeleta and her skills (she was taught by the best, of course, herself), she just never rests easy when she leaves someone else in charge, even just for an hour to grab a snack. If she is on a break- you'll probably see her resting somewhere nearby, ready to jump up whenever someone might need her again. She's guilty of working completely through the night, only stopping because Hansu came to her himself and forced her to come get some sleep. Hera is known for being sweet but no-nonsense. She'll comfort you at your worst and most vulnerable, but she certainly won't sugarcoat anything for the sake of your feelings. She can also get a bit frantic sometimes and is almost always in motion. Hera has been part of the clan for a long time. Not nearly as long as Hansu, but she's no newbie either. She predates some of the other members by a decade or more. She loves the commune more than she can express. Her worry and obsession with taking care of others can become overbearing, but she can't help it. She has so much love in her heart, and nowhere else to set it all down. |
