Biography

Vexil once belonged to a pack of mirrors, and displayed all the savagery typical of her breed. The group she traveled with was relentless, a force of destruction as it crossed the land. Things changed one day, as the pack had stopped to rest with a clan that had always treated them hospitably in the past. War was brewing with another clan, and the mirrors agreed to lend their services to the effort. The severity of the approaching battle was, however, severely underestimated.

The war raged for months, and Vexil saw many she cared for fall, eventually sustaining grave injury herself. She was among the few survivors, but only just, saved by a healer who was a stranger to her.

The majority of the pack she had once roamed with and the clan she considered allies were gone. Survivors of both sides hung about the deserted lair and tried to rebuild their lives, but Vexil found it too painful to stay, and set out with a precious few others who felt similarly. No longer able to fly or move with any great speed, Vexil would've starved without the support of this small group, but eventually they disbanded as well, each seeking a clan to join so that they might forget all that had transpired.

Vexil now spends most of her time resting, and feels she will be fatigued for the rest of her life. She surrounds herself with life and warmth however she can, tending to a small garden when she has the energy, though the skill isn't really innate. Despite this, resignation and weariness show clearly in her eyes, demeanor, and body. Though not unkind, and truly desirous of company, she mostly keeps to herself. Socializing was always tiring for her, and has only become moreso since.

She does enjoy visits from Pitaya, who actually seems to know what she's doing with the plants and has saved more than one sprout's life in her time spent with Vexil. Though the nocturne seems overflowing with energy, her presence is always more refreshing than it is taxing. The two share tales of traveling, an experience common to mirrors and messengers alike, and on occasion, the nocturne might press a kiss or two to the mirror's scars, a gesture which Vexil doesn't fully understand, but welcomes all the same.
